Dark Florals

Melbourne is on the cusp of Spring….. and the weather shows some promise of warming up. The sun seems to be playing hide and seek and there is still some chill in the wind. It’s like the weather is conversing with nature in a language of their own. Flowers are blooming and the earth is dressed in its green finery and colourful baubles.

To capture this celebration my husband and I headed to the Tesselaar Tulip Festival recently. It’s through his lens that we have tried to capture the essence of this beauty

Floral prints are also trending this Spring- Summer in Australia. This bright floral backdrop was a perfect foil to my dark floral on floral look

I am wearing a lace singlet top with floral embroidery on the front and the sides. I bought this from 7 Angels which is a store on Swanston street in Melbourne city in the year 2006. This store is not known for its quality but known for its great value and is a favorite with students who are on a shoe string budget. I decided to team this up with a dark midnight blue-black skirt with floral print on it. This skirt is a gift from a dear friend (2014)

The idea was to let the print and the floral embroidery shine and hence kept the accessories minimal. I am wearing black rose earrings from Equip (2013) and black ring with floral engraving on it.

I teamed up my outfit with a cropped black blazer to maintain the dark look (Boutique in Box Hill Melbourne, 2010) Faux Leather black lace up ankle boots add that mystery to the whole look.

The only soft element to balance the outfit was my bag – Its a baby pink leather bag by Colette. This was gifted by another dear friend of mine.

The makeup is fuss free and natural . This particular day it was quite windy and half way through the shoot it started drizzling. Here is a breakdown of the make up of the day I am wearing – Maybelline Bare Naturals compact Mineral powder on skin, Maybelline Collossal Volume Mascara on the eyes, Lakme Baked blush in the shade -Day sheer on the cheeks and Loreal Lipstick in the shade -Plum Pout to add drama to the whole look.

I could easily wear this look to work. I would trade the lace up boots to nude pumps and trade the black blazer for a coloured blazer. I would change the bag to a Tote.
