When you visit your local farmer’s market in Spring-Summer you cannot resist adding beautiful, colourful and fresh fruits to your shopping basket. This year fresh and succulent Strawberries have hit the market and they are super cheap as well. We have been feasting on Strawberries all through October and our love affair with Strawberries is here to stay.
Getting kids to like and eat their required share of fruits can be difficult task for Mums. That is when Smoothies come to the rescue. They are perfect to blend the fruity goodness and increase your intake of fruits/ veggies, dairy and nuts. Smoothies are my go to breakfasts on weekday mornings. The best part is one can make them the night before and all you have to do in the mornings is just drink them.
Here is Mumbai to Melbourne’s recipe for Strawberry Almond and Peanut Butter Smoothie.
This is a milk based smoothie that incorporates the goodness of soaked almonds and the protein kick from the peanut butter. I have used honey to sweeten the smoothie however feel free to use raw sugar or other low-cal sweeteners of your choice.
The ingredients needed are:
- Milk- 2 cups
- Strawberries- 10-12 in number
- Soaked Almonds- 10
- Peanut Butter- 1.5 teaspoon
- Honey – 2 teaspoon
- Yoghurt- 2 tablespoon
- Ice to blend- a few cubes (Optional)
Method of Preparation:
- Soak the almonds for a couple of hours. This helps activating the nuts and also assists with easy digestion.
- Next take a blender/ food processor add all the ingredients in it along with the soaked almonds. Blend until the ingredients are creamy and smooth.
- Serve cold with remaining strawberries on the side. Perfect brekkie on the go.
