In the growing up years in Mumbai (India) one of the very popular brand advertisements I remember were the infamous Garden Vareily ads. Garden Vareily was a famous fabric brand and was promoted by the likes of Aishwarya Rai and other top models of the time.Their forte was gorgeous florals and dark florals. The latest Garden florals trend reminds me of the early 90’s when florals were dominating the print scene in fashion.
My first post on Mumbai 2 Melbourne in 2014 was Dark Florals. (Click here to read the first post) Hence it would only be befitting to have Florals again as my comeback Fashion post on the blog. Now I wore exactly the same skirt in the first post as I am wearing today. I wanted to play a fashion tease by clashing florals, colours and fabric.
So Today’s Outfit of the Day is Garden Florals Mashup.
What Mumbai 2 Melbourne wore !
I wore a black singlet with a high waisted dark floral skirt. I added a thick metallic belt to break the silhouette. Adding another element of florals is a Vero Moda Lilac floral shirt dress worn here as a shrug.
It adds a perfect contrast to the dark colours. I have picked up on the floral accents in the skirt that mesh well with the Lilac shirt dress. So the Lilac shirt dress brings the entire look together.
A rule of thumb to remember, when one is wearing busy prints is to keep the accessories simple. I have worn shimmery blue stud earrings, a stone blue and gold ring and teamed the look with classic strappy black heels.
Make up and hair !
I usually like to keep my hair simple and fuss free only because I am not a Hair style expert. I have learnt a few easy cheat hairstyles which I have perfected. Simply side part the hair and iron it straight and keep it away from your face. I usually use bobby pins to pin the hair at the base of the neck to keep them in place. Looks effortless and it actually is pretty effortless.
I do not use foundation on my skin on a regular basis so I usually start with a well hydrated skin. I then top it with mineral powder to keep the oil at bay. Since the outfit was so colourful I kept the face very simple. I added two coats of mascara and dark kohl and a light pink lip-colour was all that was needed to complete the look.
Where can you wear this look?
I shot this post in early January 2017 when I was heading out to meet my girlfriends. You will notice in these pictures that I am still in between sizes considering I mentioned in my last post how I only started my exercise routine in Dec last year. This outfit is super fun and has a youthful vibe to it. I would wear it to dinner with friends or to a house party. Simply swap the lilac shrug for a black blazer and the black strappy heels for close toed pumps and you could easily wear this outfit for work.
