Signature Nail System (SNS) Review

A few years back I tried Shellac manicure a couple of times and I was not entirely satisfied. It seemed to make my nails feel brittle in 2 weeks from when I got it done. It would also easily chip off and was not long lasting. I also did not like the use of UV Light nail dryer to dry the shellac polish. After a few times of using Shellac I went back to regular nail paint. But I find it cumbersome to paint my nails every week as the paint chips off in a few days.

That is when one day I noticed an SNS poster on one the nail salons I frequented. On enquiring what SNS was, I was told it was organic and had added minerals and calcium that helped in strengthening the nail. It was lightweight and long lasting gel nail however the finish was glossy and it did not chip upto 4 weeks. I decided to give it a try and I have continued to to get SNS done now for nearly 2 years.

So here is Mumbai 2 Melbourne’s Review for Signature Nail Systems or SNS.

What does Signature Nail Systems (SNS) claim?

SNS is a Pre-Bonded Formula. What makes it remarkable is its unique Pink and White Dipping System. What sets the SNS dipping powder apart is that almost all the harmful chemicals have been removed. In addition, SNS has added no less than four vitamins: A, E, D3 and B5, plus calcium, to nourish the growth of healthy nails.

SNS dipping powders create a far lighter, more natural covering for the nails. Customers are astonished to find that within weeks of beginning to use SNS, their nails are becoming stronger and healthier. SNS has mastered the rare art of creating a brilliant nail solution that both looks and feels completely natural.

How does SNS Manicure work?

SNS is basically a Nail Dipping System. First a gel base coat is applied and the nail is dipped in the pink and white dipping powder. Next another gel is applied and the nail is then dipped in the powder colour of your choice. This step may be repeated one more time to get the desired colour payoff. Then a setting gel is applied and left to air dry for a minute. Next a special SNS buffing brush is used to buff the nails. Finally a top coat is applied and this air dries in a couple of minutes. To finish off the process some cuticle oil is rubbed on the base of the nails. This process usually take about 30 minutes from start to finish.

What does Mumbai 2 Melbourne think about SNS?

SNS is absolutely long lasting. It lasts usually 3.5 to 4 weeks without chipping. It does not chip or wear off even if you swim, do the dishes or use any cleaning sprays. It is almost equivalently priced to a Shellac manicure which lasts no more than 2 weeks. I have used SNS for nearly 2 years and my nails feel strong and the nail enamel does not get eroded.

The SNS colour range is phenomenal and I have tried the whole spectrum from shimmery and glittery to bright and neon and nude shades. It feels light on the nails unlike acrylic and does not have any odour.

Taking SNS off should only be carried out by trained professionals in a nail salon. Usually a cotton ball which is soaked in acetone is wrapped around your nail. Then a foil is used to cover it for 5 minutes. A Buffing brush is used to buff the nails. A repeat application of acetone may be needed if it does not come off.

Pros of Using SNS

♦ Does not chip for nearly 3.5 to 4 weeks

Great value for money

Great range of colours, effects and shimmer

 Not heavy like acrylic nails

 No Odor

 Glossy finish

Cons of Using SNS

SNS is slightly thicker than Shellac which may be a put off for a few

SNS needs to be taken off by a professional in a Salon

If SNS is not taken off by 4th week it starts to loosen and can get stuck in fabric and could break off the nail.

Mumbai 2 Melbourne’s rating for Signature Nail Systems is 4/5

SNS is definitely a boon to someone like me who is always on the run and has less time on hands to paint her nails every week. I also cook and clean and do the dishes (Yah no domestic help here….unlike the lucky folks in India) so I am constantly washing my hands with soap and water, both of which are not friends of the good o’l nail varnish.

SNS is perfect as it is the all in 1 solution of all my nail paint woes. Long lasting, chip free, breakage resistant gel paint on your own natural nails (Not acrylic). SNS is just what the Nail Doctor Ordered.

What are you waiting for head to your nearest SNS Provider Salon and you can thank me later!!

XOXO
