Navratri or 9 Nights of Prayer, Devotion, Fasting and Dancing is one of the most popular festivals in Mumbai. It is celebrated across the country and celebrates the power of womanhood and Inner strength of a Woman. Most festivals in India are celebrated in the community spirit. Apart from the religious significance, Navratri is about Dandiya or Garba dance moves, vrat food and sweets, and dressing up in the latest trends of Desi fashion.
Dressing up for Navratri is a big deal, girls and boys plan their outfits like weeks in advance. Latest trends, multicoloured hues and lots of ornate jewellery is seen to dominate the outfits every year. I totally believe in recycling and reusing elements from within my wardrobe and you will see how I have incorporated some fun ideas to create 4 distinct looks that will make you stand out in a crowd without breaking your bank.
So here are 4 Desi Boho Outfit Ideas for Navratri – Mumbai 2 Melbourne Style with some tips and tricks to ace your Fashion Game this year.
Outfit 1 – Stoned Desi Chic
In this look, I am wearing a long sleeveless shirt with high waisted slits on the sides. A bright orange here acts as a great base for me to add other elements to the look. I have added a zipper crop top by Global Desi over the shirt. The Indian paisley design on it gives it a slightly ethnic touch. I have worn a pair of gold Paisley printed deep blue Palazzo Pants again by Global Desi. The Palazzo pants add the illusion of length and makes the look flow seamlessly.
Usually one sees a lot of Silver and beaded jewellery at Navratri Parties and Dandiya and Garba Pandals however I have worn colourful stone jewellery here to complete the OOTD. Not only does it add elegance to the look it, but the stone jewellery is more light weight than metallic jewellery.
Lastly I am wearing multi coloured heels to bring the whole look together. However if you are comfortable wearing flats, one can easily wear mojris as they would be more comfortable while dancing away at the Garba.

Outfit 2 – Desi Rock
If you cannot think beyond the Lehenga or Garara for Navratri then look no further, Mumbai 2 Melbourne has got you covered too. In this OOTD, I am wearing a deep Red Maxi skirt with a beige Indian Print all over it. I loved this skirt when I visited the FAB INDIA Store a few years back. As you can see I have worn this skirt as as a tube dress. I have added a faux leather bomber jacket over it to give it a rock chic vibe.
Again straying away from the norm I have added delicately beaded statement necklace in a deep blue and gold to give the look the needed pop. Here the big Red Bindi on the forehead totally completes the Desi Rock look.
So are you gonna Rock your Lehenga to Navratri this year Mumbai 2 Melbourne Style !!!

Outfit 3- A Different Silhouette
In this OOTD, I am wearing a tunic dress by Global Desi as a Kurti. I have worn a Plain solid Hued Maxi Skirt by FAB INDIA as a Garara here. Adding a silk stole in the same colour family I have kept the look quite monotone. The Tunic dress with the Garara creates a different silhouette here. Adding multicoloured Mojris and a deep gold potli along with light weight silver jewellery completes this look.
A Light weight look in comparison with traditional heavy embroidered Lehengas makes this a fuss free look while dancing the Garba. Similarly its a perfect look for a Navratri Party or Pooja celebrations. This will definitely make you stand out from the crowd.

Outfit 4- Desi Rebel
In this OOTD, I went totally DEBO (DESI BOHO). I am a total bohemian soul so this is one of my favourite Outfit ideas for Navratri. If you want to be a bit of a rebel and totally make a grand entry go for this Desi Rebel look. I am wearing a dull teal singlet and added printed silk dhoti pants by ISHKA. I teamed my trusted faux leather bomber jacket and added some statement silver bling. Having an arm party with silver kadas and mixed metallic bangles just gives this look more of an edgy vibe.
Beachy Waves add to the rebel without a cause feel of this look. Add your favourite pair of sunnies and make sure to be the Belle of the Ball this Navratri.
