My favourite Summer season is coming to an end and Melbourne has moved into Autumn. However this year we have had a very sunny almost a warm start to Autumn so far and I am totally loving it. So I am making the most of my skirts and shorts for now. With Australia being in the southern hemisphere, we get the latest summer trends flooding the market almost always towards the end of the season or during Autumn. It is the best time to shop for basics and staples that will never go out of trend.
This year denim skirts are ruling the roost. Denim mini skirts remind me of the 80’s which was about acid wash denim, frayed denim and distressed denim. I recently got my hands on a high waisted frayed denim skirt by Lee. I had been on the lookout for one that fit well and was not a very thick denim material. This one was an online shop that was just the right material and fit like a dream. You can shop a similar Lee Jeans Australia skirt here.
Outfit of the Day – 80’s Denim Skirt & Wrap Top
Denim skirts are usually styled casually however I wanted to create a chic look which can be worn from day to night. I teamed it with yet another classic trend of a Wrap Top. Wrap tops are perfect to hide any holiday weight gain and cover any unwanted bulges. It looks very feminine and can be teamed with skirts, shorts, pants and jeans.
I would recommend buying a wrap top as this will become an investment piece in your wardrobe. This Wrap top by Tobi reminds me of the Sunny Side of life. A perfect yellow to brighten up your mood and yet versatile enough to wear to a day event or carry it to evening wear. Tobi has a cool collection of wrap tops and denim skirts. Check their collection here.
I completed the look with silver two way studs and a multicoloured floral ring. The hairdo was fuss free in a twisted side bun. I kept the makeup really simple. Hydrated skin with mineral powder, blush on the apples of my cheeks and two coats of mascara to open the eyes. I added a bright pink lip-colour to finish the look. I matched the envelope clutch by Sportsgirl with my lip-colour here. I teamed this outfit with leopard print pumps.
Today’s Outfit post was my Ode to the 80’s fashion trends that I have always loved. Denim skirts are versatile and won’t go out of fashion. Similarly Wrap tops should become an investment piece in your wardrobe because you can team them with skirts, shorts and even with denim.
