Long and Short of it ! (Style a Shift Dress + Mixing Prints)

Hello beautiful people ! Happy New year to you all. I am back after a blog and social media hiatus. We visited family in India and were away the Christmas season and after we got back to the grind, I needed some time to recharge my creative batteries and get back to blogging again. So Mumbai 2 Melbourne is now back with a bang with some cool fashion, food, lifestyle, parenting ideas that I will be posting soon.

I love the warmer months in Melbourne and January and February are my most favourite months because the warmer weather just adds a spring to my step. I love to stay cool and comfortable when I head out but I still want to be trendy and stylish. I get a lot of queries on social media on how to layer in Summers. Today’s post is about Layering in summers and styling shift dresses along with clashing and mixing Prints. So let get to The Long and Short of It !

I was recently catching up with a few friends for a coffee date in the City. It was a pleasantly warm day and I wanted to stay casual and cool. A shift dress is an all time favourite because they are comfortable and suitable for all body types. I have this really old abstract printed metallic grey shift dress from Dotti which is more than 8 years old. This shift dress is a tad bit short and I usually would wear it as a tunic with leggings or with denim.

So I teamed it with a hot pink high waisted skirt that finished a couple of inches below the shift dress. This added a nice pop of colour and also added length to the shift dress. I wanted to keep the look free of chunky accessories since I was mixing prints .

I added a Mustache print beige and pink scarf which I casually knotted around my neck. I teamed the look with a steel grey bag and leopard print pumps. Steel grey studs and a multicolored floral ring completed the look. I have mixed abstract prints keeping the colors from the same colour combination here grey and pink. That helps bring the look together.
